Sphaerae is an in-situ sound installation in Marfa,Texas. This installation confronts two different types of landscapes: the natural/material landscape and the technological/immaterial one. Recordings of the infosphere (signals of data cables and radio signals from access points, cell towers and overhead satellites) of Marfa are broadcasted in a circle located in a wide eld. This project is based on the medieval conception of music, established by Boethius (VI century). In ┬źDe institutione musica┬╗, he distinguished three kinds of music: the rst is music of the spheres [mundana]; the second is music of the body [humana]; and the third that which is made by instruments [instrumentalis].
